Is PMA a genuine Montessori school?
Petersen Montessori Academy is staffed by only certified Montessori instructors who are dedicated to providing the best possible foundation for your children's most important years.
Petersen Montessori Academy is accredited from the American Montessori Society (www.amshq.org). Accreditation is a more detailed process than affiliation. It requires the faculty to be MACTE certified. It is a year long process that requires the submission of annual reports, a self-study, recommendation by the Accreditation Commission and approval of the AMS Board of Directors.
Petersen Montessori Academy is dedicated to providing the most educational and nurturing environment for your child while implementing the philosophy created by Dr. Maria Montessori.
Will PMA require uniforms?
Uniforms are available for purchase, however uniforms will not be required for the Preschool and Toddler program. Although uniforms may be easier and less expensive than purchasing an entire school wardrobe, the Toddler and Preschool years are when children are developing their own personalities and individuality. We promote the creativity and expression of children and one outlet of children's expression is through their clothing.
Does PMA provide lunch?
No, the children bring their lunch from home; it is impossible to satisfy every child’s nutritional wants & needs, therefore we believe that the children should “eat what they like”. We encourage parents to pack a healthy lunch. Candy is not allowed.
Does PMA provide snack?
Yes. We provide organic snacks and organic juice each day.
Is PMA open on TWD’s?
Yes. We have an optional “Fun Day” available for the children. It is not a typical day, but the children who attend enjoy a camp day with the teacher assistants filled with music, dance and arts & crafts while the teachers are planning and recordkeeping.
Does PMA have a before and after school program?
Yes. We open at 7AM and we close at 6PM.
